Things to know
- Classes - Economy has reclining seats and a Skyline car with a dome. Sleeper Plus has berths, roomettes and bedrooms with meals in the dining car. Prestige adds larger cabins with shower and the Park car lounge.
- Night running - westbound, the train crosses Manitoba at night, spends the day on the Prairies and runs from Edmonton to Jasper overnight, arriving in the early morning.
- Time zone - clocks go back one hour on entering Saskatchewan (eastbound, forward). Saskatchewan and Alberta keep the same time all year, so nothing changes at the Alberta border.
- Stations - Saskatoon and Edmonton stations are on the edge of town. Allow time for a taxi if you plan to leave the train during the stop.
- Duration - the Canadian shares the line with freight trains and is often late. Don't book tight onward connections from Jasper.

GPS may not be available everywhere. Tunnels, deep canyons and some rail cars can block the signal. The app estimates where the train is for a few minutes from its last speed, but cards may come late until the signal returns.
