Things to know
- Classes - Economy has reclining seats and a Skyline car with a dome. Sleeper Plus has berths, roomettes and bedrooms with meals in the dining car. Prestige adds larger cabins with shower and the Park car lounge.
- Dome seats - the domes fill up quickly after Jasper. Head up early for Mount Robson.
- Time zone - clocks go back one hour at Yellowhead Pass, from Mountain to Pacific time (eastbound, forward one hour).
- Night running - westbound, the Thompson and Fraser canyons are usually passed in the dark; travel eastbound to see them in daylight.
- Duration - the Canadian shares the line with freight trains and is often late. Don't book tight onward connections from Vancouver.

GPS may not be available everywhere. Tunnels, deep canyons and some rail cars can block the signal. The app estimates where the train is for a few minutes from its last speed, but cards may come late until the signal returns.
